A priority for South

Sustainability

South's goal is to ensure a sustainable future for handling by implementing a robust sustainability plan.

SoutheuSUSTAINABLE FUTURE

  • We invest in processes and technologies that help reduce the carbon footprint of all airport service delivery.

  • Sustainability is in our DNA, and our main objective is to contribute to the decarbonization of the sector, aligned with the IAG Group's objectives, the 2030 Agenda, and AENA's climate action plan.

  • We are committed to measures such as the use of electric vehicles and the use of biofuels in our ground equipment. We are also replacing thermal equipment with electric equipment (belts, ladders, and transfer conveyors), improving efficiency (fleet consistency) and operating safety for our workers.

  • We are the first handling operator in Spain to use remote-controlled pushback tractors, known as mototok, and the first in the world to use them on regional aircraft with up to 100 seats.

  • We are committed to a green operation that contributes to the well-being of our customers, employees, and partners, with more than 30 initiatives in two main areas:
    • Aimed at reducing environmental impact: CO2 emissions calculator, promoting a sustainable culture through training, optimizing battery charging, waste management, efficient driving, etc.
    • Aimed at corporate social responsibility: uniformity with recycled materials, volunteering, hiring groups at risk of exclusion or with some type of disability, waste management, increasing the use of renewable energy, and promoting a sustainable culture through training and multiple social initiatives.
